Greetings,

I know this question was asked more than once, but I want to consult with you on this matter.

my wife is an amatour graphics designer, she currently use a dell P2314H screen.
it is a great screen but with one con, it has an dp connector but I cannot extract the sound that comes with it.
so I'm looking for a new 23'-24' monitor for her that will have either a builtin speaker or audio outjack (I prefer the latter) and HDMI/DP input (I prefer the former as my connector is HDMI).

my budget isn't high but while searching I've found LG screen that have ips and ah-ips and some samsung screens with av-pls (S24D590PL for example).

my question is, for my wife's needs, does it matter if I get her a PLS monitor? will she notice and difference when switching from her dell ips screen to a pls screen?

Thanks for your time,

Dagg.

PLS is just Samsung-talk for IPS; it's their own take on it.

As a graphics designer, your wife should be looking at an IPS/PLS panel with a wide colour gamut. This will provide accurate colour reproduction when her work is printed. Now, there are two types of gamut, sRGB and Adobe RGB; sRGB has less colours but is more common in monitors and printers, and Adobe RGB is the opposite. Unless your wife is working with huge graphics, sRGB will probably cover her needs.

I use a ViewSonic VX2270Smh for photography work, which covers 100% sRGB gamut.

thanks for the answer, I did not knew that ViewSonic produces high qualitly screens, all the companies were I live that needs the most crappiest screen uses ViewSonic.

your suggestion seems to fit my needs in all aeras beside the size, all the ViewSonic high qualitly screens I can see in my zone doesn't have what I need and cost more that the LG and samsung screens that I was looking at.
