Hello, I am currently upgrading the capacity of a Lacie 6big DAS - swapping out the 4tb drives for 6tb drives.
My problem is: on the Lacie 6big compatibility list for 6tb drives there is the Ironwolf pro ST6000NE0023 listed.
I am currently searching for vendors and can only find the 6TB ST6000NE000 available from listed Lacie vendors.
I contacted Lacie customer support with the question of whether the 6TB ST6000NE000 is compatible with the Lacie 6big and they keep telling me that they are working on it, it's been a week.

I've read the spec sheets of both drives and they are nearly identical save for different average operating powers (NE0023 = 8.1W vs NE000 = 9.3W) and max sustained transfer rates (NE0023 = 214 MB/s vs NE000 = 220MB/s )

So, I was wondering if any of you have any insight into the differences between these two drives, or if you have experience with the Lacie 6big using the 6TB ST6000NE000.

I thought I'd ask here, seems to be the most likely place to find an answer, other than Lacie who don't seem to know.
Thanks! Patrick

The ST6000NE000 appears to come in two versions, one with 10 heads, the other with 8.

The ST6000NE0023 has 12 heads.

This suggest that the ST6000NE000 is a newer model with faster performance due to its greater data density.

Both models are Ironwolf Pro, so they should be CMR.
