ok well i sent the tbird back and i got a new one. I put the heatsink on first this time(lesson learned) then turned that joint on woot tbird 1.1ghz, 512 mb of ram, 120 gig of raid harddrive, radeon all in wonder, sblive platnium 5.1, bad ass powers up. I format the drives set everything up in bios, and start installing win 98. But now i'm stuck with a couple irq conflicts on the comp. Primarily one between the usb and the sb live sb 16 emulation. Anyone have any advice on configuring the irqs? or is it just bettter to disable sb 16 emulation? Should i change the irq assignments in bios? BTW when this comp isn't crashing from irq conflicts it's speedy as HELL.

Well NEO you could try the following : go to system properties click system devices open and select the properties for a device called "PCI bus" after that you should see 4 tabs one of them is called "IRQ steering" you could play a bit with these settings, I don't know how it looks on your comp but I've got an option called "Get IRQ talbe from PCIBIOS 2.1 Call" select it On my comp this worked(Got a live! platinum too) perfect, Give it a try!

It's just to get it working and that you've got no red crosses an yellow question marks in your device list, but it's true, you DON'T need the 16 emulation, so if the solution descibed above doesn't work, just turn it of!

I also had a conflict, but with my NIC. To solve it I simply went into the bios and reserved the IRQ it was using so no PNP devices would take it (set it to legacy device).

I also had this probolem with my SB Live! and my A7V m/o. I went to Asus's website and found that this is a typical probolem with the SB cards. There solution was to reserve the IRQ for a Legacy device in the BIOS. My probolem was solved.
