Let's say I have two hdds of the same brand series, one is 7200 rpm and the other 5400 rpm, can I take out the 5400 motor and replace it with 7200 rpm motor ?
OK, thx. Wasn't gonna try it, just wanted to know .No.
Not only can you not change the motor at a consumer level, sitting at your kitchen table, but everything else needs to know about that RPM.
Drive firmware, head actuators, etc, etc.
It's like turning a Civic into a Corvette, by just changing the motor.OK, thx. Wasn't gonna try it, just wanted to know .
Lol .It's like turning a Civic into a Corvette, by just changing the motor.
Why ?Even if it were possible, the replacement motor would still spin at the same speed as the original one.
The PCB I guess ?The "motor" does not control its rotational speed.
