Question Is 1.380volts too high for i7 6700k overclocked at 4.6?

My build
i7 6700k OC 4.6ghz
Gigabyte GA-Z270x ultra gaming board
Arctic freezer II 360 cooler
16gig Corsair 3200mhz rgb ram
Temp at idle between 22-33 under load 67-79
Asus strix 1070 8gb

Is the voltage too high? I tried from 1.3 and can’t get pass tress test only if I up the voltage to between 1.38-1.395 then it will run prime95 for 1 hour without crashing.

Is there anything I can do in bios to lower voltage or do I have a bad chip?

Max vcore for that CPU is 1.4V so your still within safe limits.

With your load temp (assuming it's Prime95 v26.6 or AVX disabled) close to 80C that's about as good as your going to get for a overclock.

Thanks for your reply I’m using the latest prime95 29.8 and also even though I set core voltage at 1.38v in cpu-z core voltage shows 1.404 is that something I need to worry about

it's fine. I ran my 6600k with 1.38v @4.8ghz for months and it's totally fine. In the end I got a bit uncomfortable with the temps (80c++ when load), so I tuned it down to 1.23 @4.5ghz. As long as you can cool it properly, then it's all fine
