Is %100 CPU Usage Bad?

Solution

It will definitely NOT hurt the CPU. Load percentage has exactly NO effect on processor life/longevity (at least by itself).

it cannot be called bad, if you really are playing demanding games at full settings you should not be surprised at 100% cpu usage.
if on closure of the game, the processor throttles down immediately its okay, but even then if its up then check out some background processes

It depends on what you are doing at the time.

If you were playing a game for example and making a video of the game play at the same time via another bit of software running to capture the video output and create a video file of it.

Then it will use up a lot of power of your cpu.
The percentage of usage also depends in a lot of ways on how many actual physical cpu cores you have.

For a dual core cpu I would expect about 100 cpu usage while doing such a thing as described to you as above.

And with a Cpu that contains more physical cores such as 4,6, or 8.

A much lower cpu utilization percent because the work of running a game and capturing the game play of it in real time would be spread across each of the amount of CPU cores you have.

That is one of the practical reasons for some people, as to why they buy a CPU with four or more physical CPU cores.

The work load can be shared or spread over the four, six or eight CPU cores that are physically present in a system.
Giving a lower overall CPU utilization.

Or you can Dedicate each of the four, six , or eight CPU cores to deal with a specific bit of software, program, or a game running on a system at the exact same time. Having a Cpu that has more physical cpu cores than just two has an advantage.

In such a case as what you were doing, giving a lower overall CPU utilization.

But will it hurt the CPU?

Thanks. That is what I needed to know.
