Is 100mpbs DSL good enough for gaming/streaming?

First off thank you guys for taking the time to answer some of my questions.

I have CableOne 200mbps internet and the past 6 months it has been very erratic. The plans also costs $105 a month. It goes in and out a lot and the cable company really isnt doing anything to fix it, I have called many many times. I have a friend that has ATT DSL 100mbps plan for $40 a month and he lives a few blocks down from me and he says he never has problems and when we game together I have never seen him have an issue. I have always heard DSL isnt good for gaming but 100mbps to me seems like it should be more than enough to play on a ps4 or pc and while my wife streams netflix etc or gets on the wifi on her phone.

Is DSL really that much worse or would the 100 mbps DSL be just fine for gaming and streaming netflix? Would I even notice a difference?

DSL has one huge advantage over cable. On cable you are actually sharing bandwidth with all of your neighbors on the same connection. So during peak hours they may not be able to guarantee your speeds. DSL is a direct line to you only, and they should have provisioned enough bandwidth to keep that consistent.

Download speeds aren't that important to streaming, anything over 25Mbps is fine. Your upload speed on the other hand, is this symmetrical DSL or ADSL with a much lower upload speed (more typical)

According to the website the type of dsl is IPBB with 20 download speed.

That should be plenty for two users. Especially if you aren't actively uploading anything. It would just be the traffic to send for what you want.

I've never had an issue with DSL, but have mostly used cable. In my area cable is still hugely faster than DSL, which is probably why you hear about it being worse.
