is 100W to 150W PSU headroom safe ?

i have HP Z400 and i have calculated that the power consumption while gaming will be near 325 watts something with GIGABYTE HD 6850 and Xeon 3565 3.2 ghz . Power supply is 475 W 80 PLUS BRONZE DELTA

if you are confident in your power need calculations, then that is plenty of headroom. it's only running about 68% of the psu max which is easily in the "safe zone"

those delta psu's dell uses are usually rather good quality. i have an r9-270 running on a 375w delta dell psu. and that's a 150w card!!

thats good , how long have u been using your psu and secondly if i somewhat max to 350 watts during game , will it still be safe , is 125 watts head room enough too

It is a Dell dps 420 from 2008!!

Still going strong as the kids gaming pc. Everything still stock except for the new gpu added in.

Should still be good to go with yours at those usage levels.

Oh good to know , can i also ask which processor are u using and how much it consumes , i dont have much knowledge of xeons , my processor has TDP of 130 watts , dont know the max consumption still but assuming that 130 W may be the max consumption .

that one has a q6600 which is 105w if i recall right. sucker has a MASSIVE cooler on it. but it runs cool and quiet no problem considering it's age. i have re-applied thermal paste and such on it so that helps as well.

Yes should be fine , my son gamed on it for a couple of years never had an issue.

The DELTA PSU in the workstation is very good.
