[SOLVED] Is 1070 worth it?

Solution
I paid about $250 for a MSI 1080 with liquid cooler in November, and $190 for a Zotac 1070 earlier in 2020. Both of these were from ebay. I was able to get some for even less on facebook (like a oem 1080 for $175 in december) In my opinion, they they should cost that amount at most in 2021. These cards are like half a decade old and nowhere near the performance of modern flagships. 1080ti should be <$400 IMO.

HOWEVER, the shortage has made these prices inflated, so you are unlikely to get one for what they "should" cost.

Video cards are "worth" as much as people are willing to pay for them. If you want to pay $300 for it, go ahead. If you want to wait until prices return to normal, do that.

I honestly wouldn't buy a GTX 1070 for anything more than $250 used, even during a "shortage". Remember, it came out in 2016, so it's over 4 years old and no longer under warranty by now. Returns accepted doesn't always mean it will be honored if the card has a problem.
Ok, what is the most i should be paying for a 1080, 1080 ti?

It's difficult to say really with so many difference prices and with all the global issues right now. When I'm looking to buy a used GPU, I usually check the MSRP of the card and subtract 10-12% of that value per year since the release date, which usually gets me a decent idea of how much to pay or near it. Ultimately it's up to you if you want to buy a used card for $300 with no warranty other than returns being accepted.

If you have no other choices, then maybe paying $300 is ok to you. I just know I wouldn't personally spend more than $250 for a GTX 1070 in 2021.
