is 1080ti ovekill for 1080p 240hz ?

i have asus 1080p 240hz monitor
is 1080ti overkill for it ? i want to fully utilize the monitor

In order to get close to 240 FPS from a game (as i understand you ask from a gamer's standpoint), a 1080Ti is not really overkill, no, even if it's 1080p. And as time passes and games get more complex, it will be needed.

Not only is the 1080 Ti not overkill for most modern games; its quite frankly not enough if you want to FULLY utilize the monitor. even a 2080 Ti will struggle in modern titles to attain a constant 240FPS. 240FPS is going to probably be limited by the CPU in many cases.
