Question Is 10A cable safe to use with the Thermaltake Smart Series Power Supply Smart Pro RGB 850W

I am building a new PC and I am wondering if my current PSU cable is safe to use with the Thermaltake Smart Series Power Supply Smart Pro RGB 850W PSU.

The cable is 10A and 250V.

Well 10A is good for 2200w at 220v and 1100w at 110v.

This is less margin than it sounds like, as 1100w at 80% efficiency is just 880w, but should technically work as long as the IEC end plugs in tight.

So if the IEC end is tight when plugged in, it is fine?

The box for the PSU says for the AC Input:
Voltage: 100v - 250v
Current: 15A

Should be. I'm curious as to why that PSU didn't come with a new, properly rated cable.

It did, however, the Power Cable had the European 2-pin head and I need the British 3-pin head.

The European plug head is 16A and 250V and IEC end is 10A 250V.
My old cable with the British plug head is 10A 250V and IEC end is 10A 250V.

From what I thought, the cables will be fine since the power going into the PSU is coming through the same grade of IEC (both are 10A, 250V)

I do not think this will make a difference but it is my first PC build and I want it to work but electronics is not my strong point.

Then you are more than fine as you are on 220v. There are some manufacturing tolerances on the IEC end which can result in cables falling out when you switch brands, so it's just something to watch for. Obviously the cable that ships with a PSU will fit right on that PSU.

Yes my old cable clips into the PSU fine and is definitely secured.

I think a better question is whether Thermaltake SMART RGB is safe to use regardless of power cable.

I will answer this with...MATH...the universal language!
Thermaltake SMART Pro 850W 80+ Gold with Active PFC.
850W ÷ 115V = 7.391A but @87% efficiency = 8.496A MAX
850W ÷ 220V = 3.864A but @87% efficiency = 4.441A MAX
So, in this case, a 220V 6A (1,320W) power cable would MORE that suffice.
Just as long as it fits snugly into the IEC-C13 connector in the back of the PSU, as stated above.
