Is 16GB of 3200MHz RAM faster than 32GB of 1200MHz RAM?

I'm just curious on whether or not 16GB of DDR4 RAM clocked at 3200MHz will run games and other things faster than 32GB of 1200MHz RAM. I'd assume the 16GB of RAM would indeed run quicker but I just need to make sure because this PC I bought years ago with this stock RAM and I'm planning on upgrading really soon but don't see a point in getting 32GB of RAM.

Yes, 16 GB @ 3200 MHz would be faster. What CPU/mobo do you have? If your system came with 1200 MHz RAM I'm skeptical it can even run RAM at 3200 MHz.

Currently I have an i7-6700k Clocked at 4.5GHz and my Motherboard is the MSI Z170A

They don't make DDR4 that only runs at 1200 MHz. I'm guessing it's 2400 MHz. But yeah, 16 GB @3200 MHz would be better than 32 GB @ 2400 MHz.

Thank you! I would go with 32GB of 3200 RAM but I'd rather save the money to buy a new case! Appreciate it!

Also, there are very few games that get any advantage from 32GB over 16GB. It just doesn't make a difference. So, the faster RAM (if your motherboard supports it) would be better.
