Is 1920 x 1080 resolution too big for me?

I dont have a very good pc, its decent i can run many games but not gta V or watch dogs or new dragon age.
I'm sure that in some games i would need to change resolution to something lower, and i'm worried how would it look like? I dont really care about graphics but how bad would it be?
I'm using 1024x768 now so lets say when i play dark souls 2 i reduce it to 1024x768, what would happen?

Should i get 1366 x 768 or 1600x900 resolution instead?

Also, why are some 1366 x 768 monitors more expensive then some 1920 x 1080?

Reducing resolution, especially when the coefficient isn't an integer (say you reduce 1920x1080 to 1600x900, so in 1.2 times) will require interpolation, so the image could become blurry.
Another problem in your case is that 1024x768 is 4:3 aspect ratio and 1920x1080 is 16:10 aspect ratio. Two things can happen here:
1) The image would stretch from original ratio to used ratio, ruining proportions of the objects on image, or
2) There will be black stripes on both sides of the image.
So naturally the downscaling isn't recommended

So what should i do? Do i get 1366 x 768 or 1600x900 resolution instead?

Its shutting down from time to time and its really old, im pretty sure its about to stop working soon. Its one of those huge heavy ones.

It poses a problem, indeed. Because you have an old pc, you probably won't be able to play (modern) games on 1080p, but it's painful to do smth. else on it (e.g. browsing or writing) on a low-resolution monitor.
The best scenario would be to upgrade your pc so it can handle games in larger res and benefit from bigger screen space outside gaming. I can't recommend you any display without specs and, frankly, I wouldn't buy anything lower than 1080p myself.

My specs are:
Intel pentium CPU G3258 @ 3.20GHz, 4GB ram, AMD Radeon r7 260x sapphire.

The truth is i've had much worse and i've upgraded few months ago, i'm pretty happy even though i cant run newest games, i can run all the moba's which are my favourite genre on over 60 fps. Sometimes i play some other singleplayer games that i can run. Other then playing games i also watch movies, anime and tv shows as well as browse internet and read books.

My only worry is getting major fps loss in games i play, i dont want to regret
getting large resolution when lower resolution may suit me better.
