Question Is 1gbps upload speed needed for online competitive gaming?

I am looking for internet provider right now, and i was wondering is 1gbps upload speed making a difference in online competitive gaming, as the other option is 100mbps.

I strongly suspect you are confusing bandwidth with latency. Games need very little bandwidth to function and even in general even the latency does not matter a huge amount. Games tend to have system to balance thing so the guy who lives closest to the server does not have a advantage because his latency is less.
