Alright, here's what I got:

3700+ Athlon64
Asus MicroATX Motherboard
nVidia 5900FX
Audigy2
1Gb RAM
180Gb Hard drive
and the CD/DVD drive

I have a 270W power supply, the best I could find for my microATX case (granted, I didn't look very hard).

I realized the other day that I hadn't properly connected my video card to the power supply, so I went in and corrected it. Suddenly my computer turns on by itself, but nothing will come on the screen, and it only turns off if I unplug it from the power strip. I fiddled with it until it would stop turning on by itself, at which point I was able to reach Windows. Ten minutes into that, it restarts itself, but again with nothing to the screen, and again will not turn off unless I unplug it.

Any suggestions?

Uh I have a 300w with similar specs. but im upgarding to a 500 watt. I think your fairly close. So, i'd spend 50 bucks and get a good one off ebay. mine costs a 100 dollars cause tis very pretty heh, and is modular.

Using this Wattage Calculator I show that you are drawing 273W (max)without accounting for any case fans. I'd say you're running into power issues...
