Is 290x crossfire worth it for 1080p?

My plan is to get another 290x for crossfire, but after checking many online reviews, it seems like 290x crossfire mostly provide better frame rate under higher resolutions such as 4k. And somehow under 1080p, 290x crossfire barely improves the frame rate when compared to a single 290x. For some cases, it actually lowers the frame rate by 1 or 2 fps.

So, my monitor's native resolution is 1080p. Considering I already got a 290x, would it be wise for me to get another one for crossfire? If the configuration only improves my gaming frame rate by 1 or even -1 fps, I would rather get a 780 ti kingpin edition instead...

Better yet, why not get FOUR 780Ti Kingpins in SLI and downgrade your monitor to 640x480 to help mitigate the cost.

At 1080P all you need is a single R9-290x. Going with CFX is overkill and your wasting your money.
CFX them when your running at 4K or Eyefinity. Anything below that, don't bother with a 2nd card.

But even under 1080p I struggle to maintain 50+ fps in games such as Crysis 3, Black Flag, or Watch Dogs. Even Far Cry 3 will not give me constant 50 fps unless I turn off AA completely (at which point I get average 70+). I am trying to shoot for at least 4xMSAA max setting, and currently that doesn't seem to be possible with just a 290x + 4790k?

If I am to play games at around 40 fps why do I even bother playing them on the PC? A playstation or xbox would be more than enough.
As it stands right now, PC gaming is a joke.

Not sure about Crysis 3 or Black Flag, but Watch Dogs is so CPU bound that even 5GHz 3930Ks are not making consistent 60FPS, and FC3 just play it with AA turned down or use MLAA instead.

I agree, you should get rid of your PC and go back to consoles. It's obvious that's where you belong.
