Is 2gb enough for dual monitors?

Will a single EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB on an Asus M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard be good enough for dual monitors for gaming? One of my monitors will be 1920x1080 solely for gaming, and the other some smaller monitor which I will NOT use for gaming - at all. I plan on using it for watching streams, YouTube videos, web browsing, etc. Also, could I watch streams AND game on a 2GB no problem? Thanks!

There's a good chance you'll be fine for gaming and watching streams, but it depends on the game, the resolution you'll play at and if you enable post-processing effects such as AA, which utilise VRAM. That's before you get to things like the CPU and RAM.

Best way to find out is to give it a go.

Good to know. I will be getting an FX-6300 with Hyper EVO 212 Cooler if that matters. So what can happen if I "go over" the 2GB mark, or however that works? Can anything get damaged, or will it just not allow me to go over?

Thanks for the information. The MSI GeForce GTX 760 4GB TWIN FROZR is about the same price as the EVGA GTX 760 (2GB) that I was going to get. I think I'll go with the MSI because there's barely a price difference, although it is a bit longer in length, but it should be fine.

Wait, yes to the MSI or EVGA? I said I was going to get the 4GB MSI. Not sure if you misread or telling me to get the 2GB EVGA. And if I should stick with the 2GB EVGA over the 4GB MSI, why?

Sorry. I just woke up. I misread. 😀

There isn't really a difference in performance between the 2 GB and 4 GB version of that card. Most games don't even require the use of VRAM above 2 GB, so 4 GB is an overkill. But since the price difference is minimal, go for either.

Unless you're thinking of keeping this card for 2 years or so, and then upgrading, I see no reason in buying a 4 gig version.

EDIT: Another thing about the 4 GB version, is that it's only useful if you SLI it with another 760 and game at resolutions of 2560X1600 or above.

I don't plan on ever doing SLI as I am really new to PC building and don't play intensive games like BF4 or Crysis 3, but for $10 more on the MSI for a 4GB, I guess it's not a bad investment. Plus I've seen reviews showing better things about the MSI brand. Only thing I am worried about is that it's pre-overclocked which I don't know how much that'll hurt my PC. But as of this comment I think the MSI 4GB will be my choice due to it's little difference.

Here's my build if interested:

Thanks for your help btw!
