So, I was just wondering if 30 FPS is good enough for good game-play experience, Also would something like 40 or 50 FPS feel as smooth like 60 FPS too? Also why in some games 30 FPS feels like 20 FPS?

  1. 30 FPS without V-Sync may cause frame timings to be more inconsistent, enabling V-Sync when setting a game to 30 FPS could help the frametimes to be more consistent - thus be slightly smoother (Assuming the monitor being used is 60Hz).
  2. Motion blur helps framerate look a bit more fluid. When disabled at low framerates, transitioning frames could look choppy.
  3. Raw mouse input isn't as smooth looking as a PS4/Xbox controller. If you use a controller, low framerates will look a bit more smooth to the eye thanks to the smooth turning you get with an analog stick.
  4. Post processing can make textures look softer in games, which (from my experience) can help frame transition to be a bit less obvious.

In a lot of games, on PC, setting games manually to 30 FPS causes input lag that isn't present on consoles. I'd say the general idea of playing games at 30 FPS is ok, but the input lag isn't a good thing.
