is 4790k a future proof cpu for gaming?

Hey guys, I recently got my graphics cards, 2x GTX 1080 SLI which should be good for at least 3 years or more, but I hear that DirectX 12 games will use more than 4 CPU cores. Is 4790k good for GTX 1080 SLI for next 3 years? Let me know if I should upgrade to 6 or 8 core i7. At the moment it is good for any game, but I'd like to have future gaming ready rig that won't get bottlenecked by any part, and that won't require any upgrade.
At the moment I have 4790k cpu, 2400mhz ddr3 ram, and games stored on SSD. Thank you.

Your setup should be decent for at least that.

For now your 4790k is good enough. I wouldn't upgrade for now if all you're doing is gaming.

Agreed, then in addition overclocking will add significantly to the lifespan of your CPU.
I wouldn't recommend upgrading until the generation AFTER Cannonlake drops, as the improvements will be minimal otherwise.
