My new gaming laptop "Lenovo y50 UHD" sadly got 48hz only, lenovo said that it was the best for display and said they were working on a fix years ago however i don't seem to like it, can anyone convince me what's really good about it? Turning vsync in games only locks at 48 fps... and 60+ fps looks like 48 fps and that's bad in games like minecraft... (Imagine i am getting 200-400 fps in minecraft and they look like 48 fps) .

If the official support said they're trying to fix it, then there should be nothing we can do. You'll just have to wait for their fix. I wish you luck mate, I can't really imagine how annoying that refresh rate must be. :)

Well, if you're comfortable with 45FPS, you've got nothing to worry about. You'll adapt to it anyways.

UHD? I think 48Hz refresh rate is fine since high-end desktop GPUs seem to be the only one's that can run a constant 60Hz refresh rate in modern games @ 4k resolution (with all settings maxed out).

Then again I'm not sure what resolution you game at and what sort of games you play. Very high refresh rates are important mostly on FPS games.

If I can game @ 4k resolution without making a big hole in my pocket, and have a constant 48Hz refresh rate, I'm fine with that.

I see. Then just think of the fact that most displays are capped at 60Hz. Yours is just 12 frames less. A lot of people play on consoles and that's worse since they're just getting 30 fps no matter what they do, but a lot of people still play on consoles. You shouldn't be bothered by that fps unless you play something like CS:GO and are highly competitive.

I can only imagine that 48Hz bugs you when not gaming, but I've never had a refresh rate that slow before. If you really don't like it, you can probably get it sent back. I don't see the appeal in 4K laptops anyway.

The MacBook Pro I'm currently using has a 2560x1600 resolution on a 13 inch screen, that's a higher pixel density than any 4K desktop monitor. It's incredible, I can't even see the pixels. I can't imagine why you'd want more pixels?

The 48Hz limit might be due to the bandwith that your laptop is using from GPU to display panel. If so, then that can't be changed on software level. I read some reviews on other sites for your laptop and it seems a few people already tried everything to get around it, but they couldn't.

If it really bugs you that much then have it replaced if you can.

I spoke to the support and they told me they will be working on alot of fixes in the incoming windows 10 intel driver. and told me that they might be able to fix it.

It's not software though, the display is physically a 48hz display.

Then shouldn't I be able to increase the refresh rate by decreasing resolution? I find it fair to use 48hz at 4k but 48hz at 1080p is just dumb
