I was looking to buy a Acer Aspire V15 nitro black edition for photo/video editing mostly and some gaming (or more depending on if I like it on pc). I was curious is I should spend $200 more for 4k over 1080p. The 4k model hasn't been released yet but it will be soon. Is it worth it for 4k on a laptop and what some pros and cons be (if any) Thank you in advance

4K makes sense for large format screens eg 60inch TVs. But not for 20in laptop screens.

4K will mean you will run games at a fraction of the fps that you could run them at 1080p.
And that's putting aside UI scaling issues that could come with 4k resolution at such a small screen (Mass effect 3 for example, though strangely 2 does not have that issue). I can barely see my UI on 27" DSR'ed 4k.

Even currents desktop GPU's cannot drive 4k easily.
