is 50 degrees Celsius a good temp while gaming?

Those temps are pretty good. Might want to run it through prime95/furmark for about 10 minutes each to get your max temps. (prime95 stresses CPU and Furmark stresses GPU)

If your talking about room temperature then 33° is fairly hot, get an airconditioning unit asap.
No offense just a lame joke. But definitely 33° is fairly low for cpu temps.

If it is room temps, he must be boiling at 50c when gaming - I dont think that is is room temp
Like mouse24 said, run some stresstests, and when running prime, dont go with adaptive voltage on haswell(i dont know if other cpus does the same), it will automatically suck extra volts and give higher temperatures.

im using cpuid and it says package, thats running at 23 degrees is that the right one to look at?

Sounds pretty wrong, what is your ambient? and is it under load?
If it is under load, this temp is very wrong. You are using cpuid HW monitor right?
Try looking at the cores too

its not under load its idle package says 23 but CPU says 40

Sounds fine to me then. at idle, i would feel like 40 is a little bit high, but try putting some more load on your cpu, and come back with temps.
