I can run Burnmax for hours in a room thats 80F (26.6C) and get a 54C CPU temp., 40C MB temp. thats with the stock AMD cooler. I've been told thats too hot. I have a lot of case cooling, with front fan, 2 side fans, a side vent, and a rear fan, also the PSU fan. I really don't want to pull the MB to install a bigger cooler, so what would you guys recommend?

My system as of now!
Case- Antec SLK2650-BQE(A bit tight)
PSU- Hiper 580
MB- A8N32 SLI Deluxe
CPU- AMD 64X2 4800 W/stock cooler
RAM- 2 GB Corsair CMX1024-3500LL Pro
HD- 1 Maxtor SATA 200 GB and 1- 74 GB WD SATA Rapter
Floppy
DVD- Sony
CDRom

Front fans at bottom = intake, side case fans = intake, back top fans = exaust.

Just make sure you have that setup, and it's the best you can do with stock. I run the same CPU at about 52C (a lot of ambient heat) with an Arctic 64 Pro. Hasn't burnt in yet, but i don't expect it to settle any less (without this new cooler iw as at 60-64C.. so it helpd). But the main difference i noticed is when i changed the fans to that setup. It seemd to really help.

Also, I suggest not trying to put PCI slot fan in if your thinking of it becuase it tends to take the cold air out too.

Like it has been said before, try and create a negative air system, aka, more air going out than coming in. good way to keep away heat pockets, and a nice air flow.

Hope any of this help.d

My setup is this, front fan 120 mm=in, 2 side fans 80mm=in, rear fan 120=out, PSU fan=out, and a upper/left side vent that flows a goodly amount of warm air out. Of the 2 side mounted fans, one sits over the CPU, the other over the GPU. The vented air stays around 97/98F, even when the CPU is at 54C. But I know that cooler is better, mid 40's would be great.

mpilchfamily, yes your suggestions are good, I have tested my case temps, and nowhere in the case is the temps higher than 98F, which is at the exaust vent. That seems to be pretty good to me. I have used a flimsy strip of plastic film to visually check the direction of air flow right thru the case. The 98F reading is when the CPU's are under full chat, otherwise the temps are below 90F. This is the best configuration I have found so far, but I surely don't want to damage my CPU, I bought it when it was still $700.00. Now they are half that. Oh well!

im my personal opinion i think 54 is hot then again i really dont now much. I was asking the same info eairlier. I had to mess around witht he fan configurations and speeds to get mine down. (hotwired) Neways my temp hovers around 40 now under load gets up to 46-47 and now and again FIRE!!!. only last a short time.

I have the similar room temp and just messed around with the fans. I also upgarded to the Vortex TX cooler from Cooler MAster. A bit noisy but well worht the xtra cooling.

Ya, I think 54C is a little warm too, and I realise that normaly the CPU's are maxed out for only a short time. I kinda like the idea of a Freezer 64, unless somebody can suggest something better. I don't wanna pull my mobo out, case is too tight for that.

i have the 3700 with an arcticfreezer pro.
and compared to the stock cooler i didnt notice any diff
at idle, same temps but under load there is some diff.
cant rember how much though.

i have a freind that has the x24800 and water cooling
his idles at 40c. probably the dualcores on one socket

though he has his radiator and fans inside his computer.

robsX2, please tell me what you did to your rig to get to 2.7. I'm a noob to OCing, and as you can see my board is an A8n32 SLI Deluxe. The Bios confuses me, so a detailed setup would be helpful.

Darn, I hit submit too soon!

Thanks robsX2, I've printed your reply for safekeeping. I think I'Ve decided to buy a Zalman CNPS9500LED CPU cooler, and when it gets here I will try your settings. Have you tried Aiboost that comes with Asus boards? If you're not familiar with it, you can OC 10 % by using it. Puts you at 2.6 real easy. But of course I want more, and heat will be a problem.

Point well taken. However, using Aiboost has caused no problems even running full chat with Burnmax. I am anxious to try the bios, but first the Zalman.

Here's a tip for you. If you live in the USA, and near a large metro area, go to Fry's or Home Depot and buy a room A/C for around $80. Problem solved.

HEHE, yes I do live near a Home Depot and a Walmart, but alas, no Fry's. And I already have a small A/C in my shop, but with 4 computers and 2 bodies in it, it struggles a bit during the afternoon, or any day when the temps are in the hi 90's. The penalty for living in the deep south I guess.
I didn't realise that you could get Aiboost to go more than 10%. Showing my ignorance again I suppose. I seem to do that a lot.
