Hi my friend got a trash laptop righ now and hes not that good at pc parts and stuff im a little bit better but i wound is 550W PSU strong enough and my friend want a pc that atleast can run games at high setting or normal combined with high but heres specs and i have built a pc at PcPartpicker but we heavent bough it yet but anyways heres the specs

CPU: Ryzen 5 3400G
Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX AM4
Ram: corsair vengeance 2x8gb 3000Mhz
SSD: Western digital 500GB Sata6gb
GPU: Asus Radeon rx 570 4gb rog strix
PSU: Corsair CMX 550W 80+ Bronze

What is the budget? A 3400g is kinda pointless, as you have dedicated GPU already. A Ryzen 5 2600 would be a much better choice, here. Also an SSD is a very good idea, even if it is only a 240gb, for the OS. I put those parts, in PCPP, and then modified the buid, to this, for a similar price.

Going forward, with games, yes you do. Quad core gaming is essentially dead. Some titles are making full use of the cores, of a 6 core ryzen, and start using the SMT. Shadow of the Tomb Raider, for example, can easily use 75% of the available threads, of a Ryzen 5 3600, and that game is a couple year old now. Going forward, it's only going to get more intensive. Also you have to take into account things Windows likes to do, in the background. Don't spend more, on an inferior CPU. The 3400g only makes sense for those just starting out, that cannot afford a GPU, right away.
