Is 60C for a gpu too hot?

Hi.
So I noticed that my gpu temp is around 55-60 at idle or just while browsing trough google.
I tried switching the thermal paste but that didn't change the temperature.
So i was wondering whats the average temp. of a gpu at idle and or while gaming.

I have a Zotac GTX 560 and the temps while playing go to 90-92C while playing farcry 3 or Watchdogs but goes down to like 70C while playing modern warfare 3 Max Grapchics

1. Any COD game is not a benchmark because they are just awful looking in the first place.

2. 90 degrees is acceptable as GPUs can hit like 100 without destroying themselves, but I'd suggest downloading MSI Afterburner and going into the fan-speed dial, unchecking the little 'Auto' box, and then adjusting it to a higher %age. The default is like 30 and that may be killing your GPU.

My old 5570 used to hit 90 sometimes and it ran fine.

But hes right. You want to idle below 50, and you want to be at load under around 75C. My 660TI never hits above 75, and if it does, I just go into afterburner and ramp up the fans.

I also have an NF-F12 blowing fresh air directly into the GPU from under the case. That could help with the cooling. If you have an extra fan you may want to try.

That could be an issue. Take it off, clean it, apply a grain sized (grain of rice) drop of thermal paste, and then re apply the fan. Also, make sure that you use good thermalpaste like IC Diamond,

Im using MX4 thermal paste.
the thing is is when i was going to apply thermal paste the radiator inside the gpu was stuck on the radiator and i could see the chipset and it had a LOT of thermal paste so i applied a medium amount to it and then had to apply more thermal paste for the radiator and the chipset cover which was supposed to be glued onto the chipset.

Did you clean off the factory applied thermal paste? with isopropyl alcohol 70% or higher?
