Hello.
Is 750W okay for this PC?:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 (non-k)
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti XTREME GAMING
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 4GB (2x)

I had 600W, but it already died in 6 months.. Is too big watts PSU gonna die faster also? Somewhere I read that.

If your PSU was from a good manufacturer it will still be under warranty if it only lasted 6 months.

The PSU calculator I used suggested a 750W PSU for your setup, although the consumption was less than 500W. When buying a PSU then you are best getting one from a reputable manufacturer as they tend to last a lot longer. Seasonic are a really good brand but a bit more expensive than most of the others.

I have Corsair (CX series, maybe that's the problem?). On the Corsair's website there is written down that it's for basic builds... But will the 750W PSU die faster if it's "overkill"?

If you bought this PSU new, then I am surprised that it has died so quickly. From my understanding Corsair don't make their own PSUs and they are normally made by Seasonic and CWT.

If this was bought new then I would go read the warranty as I am sure it has a 2-3 year warranty. If it is second hand then you don't really know how it was used previously and it could have been on its last legs.

In relation to the 750W, it won't die faster because it is larger. However, if you can afford it you are best getting a PSU from a reliable manufacturer and one that has a good standard (bronze minimum).

Yeah, I am the first owner of this PSU. And it's been like ~2 weeks on the warranty right now.
By the way, I was thinking of this PSU (again by Corsair): http://www.corsair.com/en-us/rmx-series-rm750x-750-watt-80-plus-gold-certified-fully-modular-psu

Corsair CX are relatively basic PSU's, good for office/home PC's and possibly a cheap/low end gaming PC but I wouldn't use them for anything more than that really.

There's no reason why a higher wattage PSU would die faster than a low wattage one.

I would just get a quality 600W+ unit. Any Seasonic or XFX PSU is going to be good. Most Antec PSU's are good as well.
