Question Is 80 degrees celsius max to much?

I recently built my first computer and have the Intel Core i7 8700k and a be quiet dark rock 4 cooler and two case fans one for intake and one for exhaust, when gaming my temperatures on core temp are around 60 to 75 degrees celsius but some cores will max out around 80-85 degrees Celsius for a few seconds. Is this something to be worried about?

Peaking into the mid 80s is not surprising on the 8700k, especially if you average in the 60s-70s.

Is this a cause for concern or just normal temps then?

No cause for concern, you are within safe operating range and the 8700k is known to have some poor quality thermal paste under the IHS, which leads to above average temperatures.
If you arent hitting 90s, I see no reason to worry about anything.
