3 Years ago I never thought this would be a relevant question. Well, here we are. Below are my pc specs. Wondering if I should upgrade to a Corsair RMX1000 psu.

PC specs:
BitFenix whisper 850w psu
5900x
Powercolor 6900xt ultimate
16gb 3600mhz
4 samsung 850 Evo ssds
1 samsung 970 Evo nvme
Deepcool castle 240ex AIO
2 noctua fans
4 lian li uni rgb fans
1 led rgb light strip

Please let me know if upgrading my psu to a larger 1000w unit is worth it.

Thanks!

Here is a handy psu sizing chart:

You are ok.
That said, a step up in psu capability is not a bad thing and usually does not cost incrementally much more. The psu will only draw the power demanded of it, regardless of the max capability.
Modern graphics cards can have temporary power spike draws exceeding nominal power requirements. A quality psu can handle this.
I do not know much about your psu.
But, a decent guideline as to quality is to look to a unit with a 7 to 10 year warranty.
Like this seasonic prime 1000w with a 12 year warranty:

Why, are there issues? If not, it's not necessary to upgrade.

Make sure you connect the GPU with 3 seperate PCI-e cables to 2 seperate 12v rails on the PSU.

Don't suggest a PSU that have known issues with 6900XT. You need at least a 1200w Prime for RTX 3090/RX 6900 XT. Besides that it's inferiour to Corsair RMx, Bitfenix Whisper and many other PSUs..

@--SID-- Can you post a link to the 6900XT/psu issues?
I would like to read more.

For the most part the computer runs flawlessly. The reason I'm asking is because the last time I played bf5, I was having some weird issues that like a random blinking screen, screen darker than usual and random black/white line pop in.

That's the only time I've ever seen it though. I restarted my computer and opened the game up on the same server/map with no problems.

It could either be a fluke or a psu that can't supply enough power for the whole system.

Is anyone familiar with the Maingear Ignition 1200w psu? I've only seen it on 1 hierarchy list where it was rated as a tier a/s.

Hello

I have a smilar setup with same PSU whisper M but 750w.

I received my new 6900xt, did not install it yet because I fear PSU would cause issues.

Did you resort to upgrade the PSU?

Are you currently connecting two separate VGA1 and VGA2 PCIE cables or using 1 cable only with splitter?

That PSU should be fine, I run a 5900x with the PBO overclock and my 6800xt powerplay soft mod, it will use about 400watts total board power to keep the 2760mhz overclock stable, It uses more power than a stock 6900xt and my EVGA supernova 850 has no issues, the fan hardly ever turns on while playing games like Battlefield 2042.

Idk if I'd feel 100% safe with a 750 watt though. But that 850 should be fine.
