Im finishing up my new build and i have an EVGA 850watt GA but im not sure if its got enough juice.
These are my parts:

  • 12700K
  • Asus RTX 3090 ROG Strix
  • 32gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 5600mhz cl36 ram
  • Asus Formula z690
  • NZXT z73 w/ corsair QL120mm fans
  • Open Air Configuration Thermaltake Core P6
  • x2 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 SSD’s

Is it enough? If not would 1000 cut it or would i need 1200?

Since you have 12700K and Z690 - you should buy 900-1199 watt PSU if the budget allows.

"K" means it's an unlocked CPU. Unlocked CPUs have configurable frequencies and thus support overclocking. Motherboards with Z-series chipsets (e.g., Z690) typically support overclocking.

And, 850 watt gold from a good brand and modular will be fine for just about anything in a reasonably overkill gaming workstation, but if the 900-1199 watt is a comparable price, it won't hurt.

850w is enough but the Supernova GA is not a good PSU for a RTX 3090. GA has issues with it, known bij EVGA. They 'fixed' the issue bij raising the OCP but that's not a real fix. It's a way to prevent the symptoms instead they fixed the real issue.
Would a 1200 P2 or 1200 P3 be better then? I found them both on sale and they are practically the same price. Dont want any issues with my 3090 😅

Yes its brand new from MicroCenter
Their a bunch of power supplies that have issues with the quick/short power spikes of the 3000 cards.

You need to buy a proven platform for those cards I would recommend the Corsair RMx series.

The 850 watt would work but on the 2021 series for some reason they have 3X EPS and only 2x PCIE cables so you would really need to buy a extra PCIE cable to have 1 cable for each 8 pin for the card. Could get the higher watt version it comes with all the cables you need but will cost a good bit.

EDIT the 3090 is not that good of a card compared to the price to performance of the 3080ti depending on prices where you live.
