I overclocked my CPU (i5 8600k) last night to 4.7GHz with a core voltage of 1.350 yesterday night and let aida64 to a stability test on it for about 8 hours. When i checked back, value was at 81 c, however the Max Value was at 87 c. Is this normal?

Solution
That should be fine. In Reality your cpu will never get that hot in games or any tasks. You would want lower temps than that but as long as your temps are in the 70s while gaming or other tasks you are fune
Here's the nominal operating range for Core temperature:

Core temperatures above 85°C are not recommended.

Core temperatures below 80°C are ideal.

Core temperatures increase and decrease with Ambient temperature.

Idle temperatures below 25°C are generally due to Ambient temperatures below 22°C.

Q - What is your ambient (room) temperature? Standard or "normal" is 22°C or 72°F.

Highest Core temperatures occur during stress tests or heavy rendering and transcoding, but are lower during less processor intensive applications. Gaming generally averages around 55°C, yet can range from 40°C to 70°C, depending on how a particular game title allocates CPU / GPU workloads, as well as differences in cooling performance and Ambient temperature.

AIDA64 has 15 possible stress test selections which yield 15 different Core temperatures. The individual CPU test is just 70% workload, which will NOT give you a valid thermal baseline.

Q - Which AIDA64 stress test(s) did you select?

The correct utility to get a valid thermal baseline is Prime95, but only version 26.6, which does not use AVX code. Select Small FFT's and run it for just 10 minutes.

As per Intel’s Datasheets, Thermal Specifications are validated “without AVX”.

Q - What cooler are you running?
