Inkjet printer specs usually show two ppm values, one for colour and one for black but the two are not vastly different, so I'll assume that the 8.8 ppm is an average.

8.8 ppm is at the low end of the scale by today's standards as many can manage between 11 & 15 ppm.
Of course it will depend on the print quality you choose in the printer settings software.
Higher quality (more ink) will take longer to print than standard quality (less ink).

But if speed is important you can certainly find printers that can beat 8.8 ppm (though probably generating more noise in the process compared to a slower model).
