Question Is 90C too hot for my CPU?

So I recently got into 3d rendering and have only rendered one image so far, but for about 3 mins (the render time) my cpu was above 90 degrees. AFAIK it did not throttle itself but it did stutter once for about half a second.

Is this too hot? Under normal temps and as soon as the render finished it was down to <50 degrees...

CPU: i5-9600K overclocked to 4.77Ghz

Cooler: CoolerMaster MasterLiquid ML240

So are you saying that if I were to remount/re-paste the cooler then it should improve? i'm a little worried that Ive just overclocked it too far and my cooler wont be able to keep up even under better mounting conditions (tbh i thought it was mounted properly already but idk)

Edit: Im actually not all that happy with the cooler anyways the fans are pretty loud and seem to shake quite a bit ESP at full load...

Well.... after a pretty derp moment, i forgot that after one of my front case fans stopped working, i took them out to replace them but never did cuz i got distracted. So.... with this setup i have 2 exaust fans on the radiator for the CPU and 2 fans on my gpu and....thats it... I may have found the problem?

as another note, my cable management is great, im using whatever paste came with the CoolerMaster, and I have a mid sized tower (BitFenix Aurora)

According to HWmonitor, im using 1.459V (idk what that means i set the voltage to auto in the overclock set-up) and im not actually using any front fans right now because I took them out. I dont have the replacements on hand atm tho an no rear exhaust.

Is the lack of front fans the issue? or will the ml240 just pull in air from where those fans would go if they were there

Sorry for the late reply, but Ive reset my clock down to 3.7ghz and voltage is down to 1.02-1.03V temps area also down to like 50 under full load

ML240 on top exhaust and no case fans atm

Well, the voltage may not be as bad as I thought. MSI recommends 1.43V for that chip. Since you are overheating, though, I would return it to default settings for now, which I think is 1.2V. There should be a one click default setting in your UEFI I would think.

High voltage, no case fans......could be clue as to why its overheating :)

Leave the side panel off until you get some case fans in there.

Yeah I did a little more research and it seems like most people say that most voltages are technically fine as long as you can keep it cool (which i cant right now lmao)

Surprisingly I did not find a "one button reset" for my cpu clock in the uefi so i just manually set the boost clock to what the base speed is lol

and finally yeah... im ordering some case fans right now so hopefully that helps as I would love to get my 4.7 ghz clock back as rendering time was shortened by like 25%

Thanks for your help 😀
