It consumes less power and it is certainly less powerful than nomal 9800s....In fact it does not require the six pin PCie connector and draws all its power from the PCIE X16 SLOT...It is designed such that power consumption does not excceds 75w ...Besides clock speeds are also lower than normal..Thats all the difference

There are no benchmark out as yet but they should perform like the GT240....You will get some idea how it performs...

It should be significantly better than GT 240. The clock speed is 8% lower so the performance difference should be similar. You should be able to easily raise the clock speeds back up to normal 9800GT levels(and higher) through overclocking.

9800GT is good to people who has a low power PSU and doesn't have a 6pin power connector on it. It performance wouldn't far from normal 9800GT.
So, if u has a low power PSU and still want performance then this card is a good option.

A 9800GT uses a lot of power compared to a newer vidcard like a 240 or Radeon5670.
Castrating a 9800 with slower vidclock and memclock so it uses less power is not the way to go!
A nice 5670 with GDDR5 memory for $99 bucks will offer much better performance, and also requires almost no power.

I have a low power Zotac 9800GT.I would say it performs better than a 9600GT.(Compared performance with benchies)

It is a good card but i bought it a long time ago.
You can get a HD4850 for 99$ if PSU can handle it.
Otherwise HD4770 is also a good option.
HD 5670 is good but overpriced.

If by much better you mean noticeably worse then sure...
The HD5670 in terms of performance is basically a 9600GT with DX11 for $100. Both the 9800GT and HD4850 are much better buys at that price point.
