Is a 144Hz Monytor really needed next to a GTX 1080 TI?

I am about to built my new gaming and graphic design PC but I really can't decide over a few monitors. Most of them are standard 75Hz, but one of them is more expensive with 144Hz. They all have a resolution of 1440p but I really am not an expert in monitors and would like to know if the 144Hz really makes a difference and necessary over the 75Hz

The 1080Ti has the power for 1440p 144Hz, if only aiming for 75 Hz/fps then a GTX 1080 should be more than enough.

It makes a noticeable difference for gaming, especially in fast-paced games. On the other hand, graphic design might benefit more from a 60Hz IPS monitor than a 144Hz monitor that will likely have a TN panel.

It's preference. If the slight difference is worth the money to you, then go for it. I have a Pixio PX277 (1440p 144Hz) and I love it.
