is a 2GB Nvidia Geforce graphics card enough for 3D animation?

I am looking to buy a laptop, that i will be using for the next few years.
i have two options in mind, one has 2GB Nvidia Geforce graphics card with a speed of 2.4 Ghz along with anti-glare, and the other has a 4GB graphics card but with a speed of 2 Ghz.
other than that, they both have an intel core i7 processor, windows 8.1, 8GB ram, 1TB HHD and a 15.6" screen.
I'll be using the laptop for 3D animation as well as normal school work, so i want to know if a 2GB graphics card with a higher speed is better than a 4GB graphics with a lower speed.

these are the two: 2.0 GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce 840M and 4.0 GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce 840M (N15S-GT)

As they are both 840m ddr3, then the 4.0gb is better, but really you want a ddr5 version its a lot better even if its 2gb
