Is a 3D-Ready Monitor good for Non-3D Gaming?

Hello,

I am wanting to buy the BenQ XL2420T 3D-ready 24" HD Monitor w/120hz, but I don't plan to do any 3d gaming on it.

I take it this monitor can display non-3d images just as fine as any other monitor on the market?

I am mainly buying it because of the 120hz refresh rate. I have a high-powered graphics card and I feel like I am not using it to its potential with a 60hz monitor.

So back to the question: Can I play in full 1080p 1920x1080 res HD NON-3D on this monitor, while enjoying the benefits of the 120hz refresh rate?

Thanks!

I can't comment on the 120Hz part but I can on the quality....somewhat.

I have a Sony EX720 32 inch Full HD 3D TV and the quality is insane. I never use 3D but the 2D is amazing. It seems the BenQ monitor has very good reviews and also looks to provide great picture quality.

In a nutshell, it depends on what you are moving from if you'll truly see any benefit.

I moved from a 5 year old 27" Dell ultrasharp monitor (6ms response, 1920 X 1200 @ 60Hz) to the Asus VG278H about a month ago. I played some games in 3D for about the first week and then went back to 2D, I have noticed improvements but most especially in response time.

For instance in 2D @120Hz when doing mouse reaction time tests my average on the Asus is 180ms while native on the Dell is 350ms.
