Is a 4.8MHz overclock on i5 6600k decent and are the temps fine?

The max I have seen the temps get was 62 but that was when I was playing Bioshock 2. I'm using a Kraken x61. The volts bounce between 1.38-1.42. I have been running Aida64 for a while and it is at 52 degrees. I'm new to overclocking so I'm still clueless on what is fine/not fine good/not good.

It's hard to say, but considering the fact that the last 100 or 200 MHz you get with that extra voltage probably give you no noticeable boost to gaming performance, do you want to risk it?
The temps are fine but I wouldnt run a 24/7 overclock on an auto voltage that bounces around up past 1.4. Thats too high of voltage for everyday use. Change it to a manual voltage or use adaptive and apply an offset. I would keep it no higher then 1.35 max for everyday use but try and find your CPUs sweetspot.

I am not running it 24/7, just 5ish hours a day. I thought skylake was 1.45?

I dont mean physically running it for 24 hours straight, I meant every day use. The general consensus is not to run it above 1.4 and a good target to be is 1.35. And yes 1.45 is the absolute maximum per Intel, but do you really want to run your chip near maximum voltage levels when you dont have too? leaving it on auto is lazy overclocking.

I just have it running that high when I game which would be the 5ish hours I have it set to a profile. Would it last me 5 years if I had it running like that?

So will leaving it at 46 and automatic voltage be fine? I'm fine being a lazy overclocker for now.

I didnt mean to offend you, im just telling you the truth. I have a skylake as well and have done plenty of overclocking and read read read alot. I cant say it will or wont last, likely it will but your taking chances of overvolting your cpu and that causes degradation.

Oh sorry that came out bad on my part. You didn't offend me. I meant it in a literal way like actually just bringing it down to 4.6 and just setting it to auto. I mean would it be fine to do that? I don't plan on keeping the thing forever though. It seems like it is 10 degrees cooler under load.
