I've been looking to get a new gaming monitor for a while now and have been debating whether to get a 4k one or not. I have been offered: https://www.asus.com/uk/Commercial-Monitors/PB287Q/ for quite a discounted price but I doubt my pc could run it until I upgrade it. Would this still perform good at 1080? and would it be worth it?

Even the gtx 1080 struggles to keep a steady 60 fps in modern triple A titles. To be able to run 4k gaming is going to cost you a lot of money in hardware, that will just need to be upgraded in 3-5 years. In my opinion, 4k gaming isn't yet justified when it comes to price to performance and the average gamer.
When are you going to upgrade your pc? Do you need it? If you are sitting on it a year running at 1080p I wouldn't buy one, should get better performance from your old monitor running at native resolution. If you are planning to upgrade your pc in a month or two then it might be a good option to grab a monitor now if you get a good discount on it.
