[SOLVED] Is a 500 watt psu good enough for a Rtx 2060 and Ryzen 5 3600?

I upgraded a old system with a 500 watt Cougar VTE Bronze power supply with a Rtx 2060 and Ryzen 5 3600 with PBO enabled. According to this https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-5-3600/18.html under a full load the wattage is still rated under 400 watts even with a RTX 2080 Ti. Yet, I have seen posts floating around about how overclocking and such could overload a PSU and how I should get at least a 600 watt PSU, but I don't want to spend even more on this build, should I trust these claims or am I just paranoid?

Power wise its enough.

The issue is its a cougar vte, that's a budget psu made by HEC, its clearly 2 or 3 years old already and although its not completely dire you really should replace it at the earliest opportunity.

You're running a $800-1000 system there on a psu that sells for less than $50.

That alone should be enough to set alarm bells ringing.

Might be a "best buy" but only a 3-year warranty.
I have 2 Antec Earthwatts 380W that are both 9-years old and still running strong. One ran 24/7 for years before I switched to a different case that it didn't fit in. The other runs 24/7 off and on for months at a time.
I'd recommend Antec and am looking for a new power supply of 500 to 600 watts or so.
The Antec Earthwatts Gold Pro Series EA650G Pro 650W Semi-Modular, 80 Plus Gold, 120mm Silent Fan, PhaseWave Design, 7 Year Warranty appears to be an even better buy on Amazon at $89.99.

Get CX 550 or Antec Neo Eco 550 Gold. It really doesn't matter. Get whichever is available to you.

Please don't keep using an under $50 PSU in your thousand dollar system.

Eco gold is seasonic focus, earthwatts gold pro is focus plus.
Virtually identical apart from hybrid silent fan on the gold pro.

I actually agree its a better buy at $10 more for the 650w.

When the OP is clutching at lower quality models to save $5 though that thought kind of goes out of the window.
