A quality 700 watt is, a garbage 500 watt that is called 700 watts is not.

You will be ok 650w is the sweet spot for the 3080. However if it is some cheap 700w PSU that is a no name then you might risk causing component damage. However at 700w the ampage on the 12v rail will be enough to give juice to the 3080. The 3080 takes up 330w avg. Then you have the rest of the system so were talking 500w and then some. So your safe with your 700w PSU my friend.💯🖐😲🤷‍♀️

That's at best a 600w psu and not a very good one at that. I would not run a $700+ video card with it.

Umm... EVGA makes some garbage PSUs too. They probably have about three or four series that are actually WORSE than that Gamemax.

People really should do their research, read reviews, etc. instead of just coming to the conclusion of "I've heard of EVGA! Must be good! I never heard of Gamemax. Must be bad!"

The biggest problem with the Gamemax is it only has 600W on the +12V rail. Even if it's a group regulated PSU, it would be a 650W. So there's some false advertising there. This unit shouldn't be compared to other 700W PSUs. It's comparable to other 600 to 650W PSUs.

The other issue is that this PSU is not 80 PLUS Bronze certified. It has the same model name as a unit that 80 PLUS did actually certify, but that unit has 552W on the +12V and 132W on the +3.3V and +5V combined.

It's not a terrible PSU, but $85 is WAAAAAAAY overpriced for it.

The list of PSUs that are better for same or less money (listed from best to worse):

Rosewill Hive 650W
FSP Hyper M85+
EVGA B5 650W
Corsiar CV650
Cooler Master Master Watt 650W

But that's just comparing the GameMax PSU to equivalent price/performance PSUs. If you're seriously considering an RTX3080, get a good PSU to power it as well.

You've got a very good PC, with a very expensive graphics card.

Why not complement it with a GOOD power supply?

Reviews suggest these are all high end PSUs at an affordable price range: Seasonic Focus GX, Corsair RMx, or Super Flower Leadex III.
