is a core i5(3570) 3.4GHz 6mb L3 cache 5GT/s bus compatable in a 775 socket /

am upgrading to 64 -bit system and need to get new cpu. was looking at intel core 2 quad cpu Q9550 2.83GHz 1333 Mhz 12Mb Lga 775 EM64T and I get an update notice to go to the core i5 (3570) 3.4 GHz 6MB L3 cache 5GT/s bus. Will the core i5 work in my 775 socket?

Absolutely not that is an 1155 socket. Best bet as far as performance is core2quad series. q9650 being top of the line

Nope, the Core 2 series chips were the only ones to use LGA 775, any i3/i5/i7 will use a different socket from the Core 2 series and will be in compatible with your LGA 775 board.

No, it won't. The Core2Quad 9550 and 9650 are probably the two best options you have.
