Hi. I'm building a system with a i5-6600K and Asus Z170-A motherboard or Asus MAXIMUS VIII Gene intel z170 mobo.
The question is, do i need a GPU?
I'm planning on getting a 4K display, like a Asus 32" PA328Q for an example, i'm not sure yet which monitor but it's going to be 4K.
The PC is NOT going to be used for gaming, in fact there won't be any gaming at all on this system. It is just for lightweight photo editing, like Picasa and maybe Photoshop.
So is the 6600K:s integrated graphics enough? It can handle 4k 60 hz via displayport so does it mean i don't need a GPU?

Check your monitor's owner's manual. I think some 4K displays require two DisplayPorts to function. I have Photoshop on an office computer with only on-board graphics a few generations behind. It does OK, but I rarely process photos on that computer and the monitor is a Dell 2209WA Resolution: 1680 x 1050. Before that I had a 1920 x 1080 24 inch, I believe (it died). At any rate, if you are not sure, you can try it without as it is always easy to add one later. If you decide to get a card, I would look at the GTX 960's, though you may find a a few GTX 950's like the MSI GTX 950 GAMING 2G that has two DisplayPorts along with an HDMI and DVI-I.
