Question Is a GPU part of Digital Circuits?

On Wikipedia it says GPUs are an electronic circuit and on that page it says there are 3 categories of circuits, digital/analog/mixed.

Pretty much anything that runs on electricity is a circuit. Digital just refers to discrete power states representing 1s and 0s.

It sounds like you are referring to the signal transmitted to the monitor from the GPU. There's a pure digital signal (DVI-D, HDMI, DisplayPort), there's analogue signal (VGA) and mixed would be DVI-I for example, which carries both a digital and an analogue signal.

Or you can look at the analog power delivery circuits that supply power to the GPU (though these days, control of power input/output is digital, effectively) Really depends on what you are trying to define.

Ah, I see. I must confess I didn't look at the links - but it seems I'm commenting on something unrelated.

No that is good information, though late model GPUs don't have analog display outputs. So going to be less true over time.

I completely agree with you, but I don't see how it would become less true over time, it will however become completely irrelevant, since nobody uses the analogue standards anymore.

But eventhough nobody implements VGA for instance, it will always be an analogue standard. DVI-I is also going to be mixed forever - if the analogue signal were to be removed from DVI-I, it would be the same as DVI-D instead.

But it is just nitpicking, I know, I was just thinking about it
