Is a graphic card for pci and the agp the same?

I want to buy this card GeForce 8400 GS 512MB 64-bit GDDR2 on newegg. It has both agp and pci but the pci is cheaper(by $5) . Should I buy the pci card? Is there any differences(like performance) between a agp and pci card that has the same GPU?

PCI or PCI-E? AGP provides significantly more bandwidth than PCI but PCI-E provides even more. What are you going to be using your system for that you need this card for? It is an older card and there are much stronger options out there that do not cost much.

Yea it is for PCI not PCI-E. Actually i want to compare this card to a geforce 6200 256mb 64bit GDDR2 agp8x card? Which card you think will give better benchmarks for games like mmorpg?

Get the AGP version, that's assuming you have an AGP port.

An 8400 GS is not a good card and won't really be an upgrade over a 6200. As you can see here they are very close in terms of performance;

If you want a good AGP card you should be looking at an HD4650 or HD4670. An HD3650 would also be a massive upgrade in this case.

zipzoomflyhigh PCIE is better (newer etc) but atleast with pcie v1 it was actually slower then AGP - 6600GT's were for both, the AGP parts were quicker at the same clock speeds hence why the AGP versions were down locked (memory from 1000 to 900) to match perfromance.

To the OP - its one or the other, which fit do you have (motherboard wise) and what products are you looking at?

I thought you were asking whether to get a PCI or AGP 8400 gs?
It doesn't matter anyway. The answer to any question involving the 8400 gs is no. It's simply a very weak card and only very slightly better than the 6200. If it is being given to you for free then sure put it in instead of the 6200 but other than that do not consider it.
