I'm planning to build a new system, the monitor I chose is an ASUS PB227Q which is 1440p 75Hz, but I'm not sure whether I should get a GTX 1070 or 1080? I play GRID 2, DiRT Rally, FSX, X-Plane 11, ETS 2 etc.

Hi jrglol,

Yes, GeForce GTX 1070 will be more than enough for your monitor. I have a GTX 1070 for a Dell 1440p 144Hz monitor. With racing games like Forza and DiRT, I can easily get over 90 FPS with around high settings. If you want to play most games on ultra, though, GTX 1080 is the way to go.

GTX 1070 does not do 60 FPS average in metro last light and rise of the tomb raider. It is an excellent card for 2k, but please make an informed decision after reading some reviews and watching some youtube review and comparison videos. You should buy a card that does 75 FPS in your games.

So to be safe I should get the GTX 1070 Ti, right?

I dont want to not help you but unfortunately I dont play the games that you have mentioned. If I were you, I would check each game's performance on the shortlisted cards online. Youtube videos, toms, anandtech, hardware canucks, hardware unboxed, linustechtips, tech deals etc. are good reliable youtube/online resources that I take my time to read/watch through so as to make the right decisions.

If I dont find answers to my questions then I go by cost to performance ratio. I dont know how much 1070ti will cost or how it will perform but I would keep my eyes open for reviews. Also, the games that you have listed are more CPU bound than GPU so if I have to take a guess, it would seem like 1070 should be enough for 1440p/75 Hz. But, I would want to know the lowest 1% and 0.1% frames to make my final decision. In your case, my advice would be to wait for 1070ti to come out, check out the reviews and then decide if its worth the price increase.

Ah, okey thanks for your reply!
