is a GTX 1080 Worth 30$ over the 1070ti ?

1080 beats the 1070 ti always...

is 2-3 FPS really worth $30? I'd rather put that towards a new pair of sunglasses and a couple slices of cheesecake.

A 1080 is clock for clock faster than a 1070ti. So if the 1080 has a decent cooler it will still be faster.

the benchmark video you linked is not accurate... the 1080 is more than 2-3 fps faster.

So that means, you have charts and performance graphs to prove the video is not accurate correct? I'd certainly like to see them if you do.

These benchmarks are averaged off from a collection of multiple different users computers. All with different CPU, RAM, etc. Because of that, it is not accurate. The true test is by taking both cards and dropping them in the Same RIG and running a test, as show in the video below.

An overclocked 1070TI = A stock 1080 (+/-)

If you'd be prepared to OC the TI to match a 1080, you'd be much better off buying the 1080 and OCing it - pushing a decent margin ahead of the 1070TI.

Is is "worth" $30? Only you can decide whether it's worth it to you. To me, it's pretty cut & dry; if the cards are comparable in quality/cooling, then +$30 for a 1080 makes a lot of sense.

AHH you are correct lol.. didn't pay attention I guess. my bad.. but 9% faster for $30 I would do it. some games its MUCH more then that.. others about the same.

but it would also depend on the exact model / brand.. as some are OCed from the get go and others are not etc..

Also, i highly doubt you will find one within a $30 gap difference as the MSRP alone is a $50 difference on the FE editions. Currently aftermarket cards are well over $50-$70.

The FPS difference, even if its 2-3 or 7-8, Still ain't worth it as both of these cards will become obsolete and reach the end of their cycle at the same exact time of this universe.

Most GTX 1080 owners are quite upset and offended by the release of the 1070 TI anyways; which is why they defend the performance gaps so emotionally.

Its bad enough that the GTX 1080 TI replaced the GTX 1080's MSRP and offered a massive increase in performance.
Now the 1070 TI comes around and makes the GTX 1080 an even worse buy for gamers in Price to Performance ratio.

In the last Nvidia Series the GTX 980 didn't take this much of a beating. It's unfortunate that the GTX 1080 in this series had to suffer this much.

Just be glad you're not one of those users that bought a GTX 1080 around the time it was being bullied and pushed around with disrespect.

im getting an asus strix card to match my build
and the 1070ti is 560$ and the 1080 is 590$
i dont want to overclock anything as i hate high temps they just make me feel uncomfortable
so will the 1080 be the choice here ?
