Exactly what the title says.

Looking to get into Ethereum Mining and all that, but I have a GTX 750 ti that cannot Mine because of the DAG file. Since Various Cards like the R9 290's, RX 570's and 580's, and even the GTX 1060's have been going up or are out of stock, I'm having to look into the used market throughly for options.

I've come across offers for a GTX 780 ti at $200 for the 3GB Model, and they are capable of mining at 20 Mh/s, putting it within range of a GTX 1060, But I'm worried about it's 3GB VRAM limit.

Is it worth taking a dare on a 780 Ti, or should I be looking at 4GB Cards like the GTX 770 or 970?

Thanks!

Solution
A RX 570 is about on par with a 1080ti for mining .
That's why the amd cards are sold out & the nvidia cards aren't.

So no , a 780ti bought strictly for mining is not a sensible proposition IMO.
I'm not into mining so I can't give you direct help but I can suggest something: If you don't know which cards you should choose from for profitable mining, then you need to research Ethereum mining some more. And no, asking here doesn't count lol. This is more a gaming oriented forum.

Think about it this way, certain models of videocards are sold out due to mining, right? And yet you can still buy other models of videocards with little to no problem. What does that tell you about how good those cards are for mining?

Alright, I appreciate the Feedback.

I'm just curious about Ethereum Mining, and I don't expect it to be something I'll do for a while.

Nevertheless, How will the 780 ti do in terms of Gaming at 1080p? I'm using an ASUS VH232H (1080p, 60-75 Hz) and Samsung S20D300H (900p, 60Hz) Monitors, and I plan to do my Games at 1080p.
- Team Fortress 2
- American Truck Simulator
- CS:GO
(Plan to add more games later, but this are the main games I play)

I'm currently using a 750 ti, and I'm seeing the GPU becoming the Limiting Factor. I'm looking to get into streaming my Gameplay, so that's why I'm looking at an Upgrade.

AFAIK you don't need DAG if you mine in a pool.

Mining profitability is hard to predict into the future, but it's likely that DAG will grow and at least in a few years (2018?) it would be too large for 3GB.

If you don't care about profit, you can just mine something suitable from the several dozen currencies available.
