Is a Intel Kaby Lake G4560 Pentium compatible with a Dell Inspiron 620's Motherboard?

I have a Dell Inspiron 620 PC, and I'm looking to upgrade the CPU. Is it compatible with a G4560 Kaby Lake Pentium processor?

Looks like the Dell is socket 1155 so no it's not compatible. You'll have to replace to mobo to use a Kaby Lake CPU

The socket for the G4560 Pentium is different from the one in your computer, so it's incompatible. You would have to replace your motherboard (and possible power supply).

No they aren't compatible Dell 620's are 1155 socket and Kaby Lake is 1151 socket.

Not really worth it save for a new platform , don't invest in a pre-built setup.

If it is the Inspiron mid tower there are worse pre-builts to start from.
What CPU is in there now?

There is always the possibility of an i7-3770, but I kind of agree, there is enough of a difference to make that a losing proposition. Though if you could find a used one for a low price it might hold you over while you save up for a new build.

If you were to buy a new heatsink, powersupply, and GPU, these are all things you could re-use in a replacement build.

Hmm, not much out there on this hardware. A few people managed i5-2320 upgrades. No luck with Ivy Bridge. And it doesn't look like it plays nice with late model video cards either. A few recent posts about 1050Ti and RX480s not working in them.

With all that in mind, I would also say you should consider replacing the entire system.
