is a laptop with i7 faster than one with i5?

Hi there,
I wonder what the major difference it is between i7 and i5? laptops that have i7 is always much more expensive than those with i5, does that mean it's better with i7? I am choosing between two computers;

one with: Intel Core™ i5-6300HQ, 2,3 GHz, 8 GB DDR3L SDRAM (1 x 8 GB), 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA med Flashcache 8 GB

and one with: Intel Core™ i7-6700HQ, 2,6 GHz, 16 GB DDR3L SDRAM (2 x 8 GB), 128 GB SATA SSD + 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA

wich of theese is fastest? I am going to use the laptop mostly for studying and some games. I want it to be as fast as possible.

i7 and ssd one will be a bit faster but depending on the price the i5 one could be better for the money. i7 may get 5 frames more then the i5 one

i'm havind the same doubt, but the overall laptop should i buy a dell inspiron 7000 wich come with i7 7600hq 8gb ddr3 and 960m 4gb or an asus rog gl 552v that comes with the same cpu 16 gb ddr4 ram an a 960m 2gb and usb type c
