Is a liquid cooler even neccesary? CPU Overheating

So my CPU is a Intel i5-3570 and apparently its been overheating for quite some time now. When resting its at 60c and playing any type of game even something like league will spike it to 100c+ for the duration im running the game. It use to turn off but it doesn't anymore but still runs hot as hell. I'm not sure what liquid cooling i have because the computer is bought from a friend, its just NZXT brand. I redid the thermal paste on the CPU and cleaned out the radiator of my cooler and everything is still running hot as hell.

In the end i'm curious as to if I should go about dropping the old liquid cooler, because its like 5 maybe 6 years old, and just getting a really good fan cover for it instead. Don't really know what will work and at the moment i'm definitely not trying to break or make things worse. Scared it may just give out on me -.-

I cant tell honestly and i feel thats a bad thing, it more or less feels like vibrations from the fans that I have running aswell. Ill give it a shot. If my temps are at like 60c resting and for an extended period of time its been pushing to 100+ while gaming do you think I could of caused any permanent damage to my CPU? I'm in awe that its been running that high while both me and the previous owner are avid gamers. It turned off a few times in his time having it but he had it in a cramped space, mine is atop my desk with lots of air to breathe.

You can try unplugging the fans and seeing if you can feel the pump. But don't take too long doing it. (granted if you've been running awhile at 100+ what's a little more heat?) It's also possible that your temperature sensor is malfunctioning and everything is working fine. Are you getting similar readings for all sensors on the CPU? Core 0, Core 1, etc.

As far as permanent damage goes, you've almost certainly shortened the lifespan. By how much is anyone's guess.

I would try to see if you can feel the pump circulating, and if not I would pick up a Cryorig H7 or a Hyper 212 Evo.

How do i know if they will fit in the same spot as the cooler is. Like where the screws are at.

Are you sure the Cryorig H7 will work with this CPU and such? I'm going to order it but i'm not quite sure how to make sure. My local computer store is closed atm.

The cooler your looking at is compatible w/ your CPU, but it's way overkill, as your CPU isn't overclocked. Also, if your looking at a cooler like this, we need to know what case your using to be sure its not to tall/wide so you can put your sidepanel back on after it's installed into your PC.

Here is a look at my setup, sorry for some blurry pictures I used my Sony action cam and its hard to get still images haha.

Also take into consideration that the radiator and one of the fans will be out of the way on the left hand side.

Take a look at the imgur album can you let me know if you think it will fit?

I am not so sure, but you case should be NZXT Phantom. It is a huge full tower case. According to the specs, Hyper 212 EVO will fit your case.

It is wired that you are suffering from overheating issue, because your cooler looks not so bad. Perhaps the coolant inside the loop is gone.

Anyway, don't worry about the issue. Any decent coolers will help.

I think I'm gunna just go for it and get the Cryorig ! Hopefully it all works out haha
Will it still have the sensor hookups and such so I can get the readings still ?

I think the sensor is actually integrated with the cpu. I am pretty sure you can still read everything you can get now.

Cheers, can't thank you enough bro ! Everything is running perfect solid 32-40 degrees celsius and it looks great inside the build , solid help and great response time so once again, thank you ! 😀

Great! I feel really happy that I helped you solve your problem! Enjoy!

One more question if you don't mind , it looks like 2 of my cores are really high still. Heres a picture of the readings of the program I use.

Pretty sure it wasnt like this before but they were all hot before the new cooler. My cpu fell out of where it rests on the motherboard and bounced around on my gpu a bit. I'm an idiot and unhitched the latch the hold it down while my PC was upright 😛 It seemed easy enough to put back in and i remembered how it was resting due to the residue of the cooling paste and the writing. I'm curious why its doing this haha.

Really no idea. I feel all the temperatures from #3 to #6 are abnormal. CPU is running at such a low temperature, so there should not be some parts running at more than 90 degrees. Besides, 3 and 16 degrees are just too low for a computer.

I am curious what software you are using. Perhaps some other software will be more specific about the where the temperatures come from. For me, I use AIDA 64.
